How does this work?

A website that contains data gets created in VWD creating a Database within VWD.
I than jump into VB and add the same database connection to a new windows forms application.
That’s all it realy takes to pass data from the desktop application to a website.
And to note! i didn’t create a copy of the database, if i did that it would create a duplicate database and 1 database wouldn’t be communicating with the other.

What’s the point in doing this anyways?

It’s a project i am testing, something that came across my mind and thought i would put to use.
The idea to the project in general is to see what kind of website i could administer from VB.
So essentially there wouldn’t be a control panel on the site, the site would be controlled from the program.
Right now i am operating a site that consists of a test page.
I have created a desktop application which users can download and test the functionality of it.
Right now there’s a VB Test Home Page that people can add content to via the desktop app.
I do plan on taking this as far as i can take it, the program will add more functionality per release.
Right now it’s only 1 page, next may be 2 pages or more functionality on the one page.
The reason i get other people to download and try it is to see what it’s like for the end user, and with that comes questions i ask myself.

• Would end users use the type of functionality that’s available?
• Could the end user administer a website via a desktop app?
• When the end user submits data, does it all get submited?
• What kind of control does the administrator have?

And so forth.
There’s not much on there right now, but it’s a start and i only started this 2 days ago so there’s still alot more to add.
I would love for as many people to participate as possible and to leave a review per app release.
I would like to see the opinion of others.

Anyways, with that said, that’s what i’ve been up to.

All projects can be tested by running the .exe file or testing them by debugging.

Requirements: SQL Server Express, Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition, .NET Framework 3.5, 4.0 or higher.

1. Layout has changed
2. New controls added (Start, Pause, Resume & Stop)
3. Edit notification balloon text (Shows when 8 minutes has elapsed)
4. Change elapsed time text shown under progressbar(1-10 minutes)
5. Add up to 3 videos and save them in a video list for later viewing.
6. Video player added to watch your videos
7. Browse and play any video you have on your computer
8. ALL settings made in the Options menu are saved as long as you click Save.

After testing the program over a dozen times it’s almost ready to launch, everything is working as expected but as mentioned above, a couple things have to be fixed.

1. When timer has stopped, window text doesn’t reset to 0 and remains on the last time remaining.
2. Hide/Show elapsed time label is not needed so it needs to be removed.

So like i said, just a couple things need to be fixed than it will be available.

Well it’s taken awhile but I finally have a new look for the JD site Care Blog. The new look comes froman awesome tutorial from Nettuts. Which uses WP-Query and the 960 grid system to make a newspaper theme. I have alot of changes to make and things to add. But i felt I have enough work for it  to be used.

Over the last several days now we have been working on an outside project.
This project is a social based website and has been created using the dolphin community builder.
Here is just a run down of what this project is designed and what it’s focus is set on.
You can:

• Create a basic profile
• Join our forums and discussions
• Create/post blogs
• Upload photos
• View registered users website
• Buy your own weblive spot
• The ability to contact website owners via comment or private messages.
• And more…

The idea and purpose to this website is not just socializing as it does have alot to do with it, but whole idea of this website is to offer registered users the chance to have their site listed right on this website.
This can help build your traffic up to your website, depending how much time you put into it.
This also gives users a chance to meet and get to know the developer of their website, get not only the basic community together but also get developers together.
You DO NOT have to be a developer or own a website to be a registered user here.
You are just as entitled to creating a profile and meeting other members/developers as the developers themselves.
We will be enabling a articles section which will allow developers only to submit information about their website such as updates, changes made, new features etc.
This will allow other members to view updates or such that the developer has posted in regards to their website.
We will post the link on here when the site becomes available for full use.
The layout and design is complete but the content is not yet finished.
